Snow Day

We took Isaiah outside a couple of times yesterday to experience the snow. First thing in the morning, he wasn't so sure about it- he just had a puzzled look on his face the whole time and wouldn't move much. And yes, he only has one mitten on. We can't find the other and we knew we weren't going to be out long!

Daddy trying to get Isaiah to help shovel the walk. Isaiah stood there and looked at him like he was crazy.

Mid morning it started to snow, so Isaiah enjoyed watching it from the window.

So after lunch we bundled up again and headed back out. Still can't find the mitten so we used a sock. Note- there are baggies over his hands and feet, under his mittens and shoes, to help keep those little parts dry.

Once again, he was unsure of the all this new stuff covering the ground and his feet.

We put in out in the yard where the snow was higher- still not sure.

Daddy and Isaiah made snow angels.

And then snow balls.

Now he is starting to have fun.

He began to be more adventerous and explore more of the yard.

We stayed out for about 25 minutes and then went in and warmed by the "fire" (space heater!). It was a lot of fun but I think we are all ready for spring to come and stay :)

Favorite Pastimes

Sitting in his chair in his room, reading books.

Playing outside. Isaiah can now say "bubbles".

Reading books while watching Baby Einstein. His favorites are Baby Galileo and Baby Neptune.

Afternoon at the Park

On Saturday, we enjoyed some time at the park. Last summer, he really enjoyed the swing. Now that he is mobile, he refuses to swing. He just wants to climb and go down the slide. He have to help him sit down though; otherwise he would just walk down it! He is still learning the ropes.

The big, twist slide.

Wagon Fun

A couple of weeks ago my cousin's daughter Keeleigh turned 1. We all got her a wagon. My aunt just sent me these pictures.

Isaiah liked to push/pull the wagon.

The Queen getting a ride.

Two cousins enjoying a leisurely stroll through the living room.

First Major Boo-Boo

Isaiah and I were outside playing this afternoon and he tripped (partly because of the cracks in our driveway but partly because of me- I feel terrible). He scraped his lip which of course starts gushing blood; the mouth wounds can be the worst. I race him inside and with the help of Adam got a cold rag on the scrapes to try and stop the bleeding. He is crying, I am upset, and we have blood all over. Welcome to the wonderful world of toddler boys! Finally, we get the bleeding stopped and him calmed down. But his lip is very swollen. At first I think it felt funny to him, but through out the rest of the night, I think he forgot all about his ouchy.
Here he is, asleep after all the trauma :)

And here he is, back to his fun-lovin' self! When he smiles it doesn't look quite as bad.

We were nuts!!!

My sisters, mom, and I decided to take all the kids to Chuck E. Cheese on Friday. Why?? I don't know. Momentary loss of our minds!! It was crazy since everyone was on spring break and also were nuts. None the less, I think they all had a good time. And afterwards, Isaiah and I went home to rest in the silence of our home :)
At first, Isaiah was overwhelmed (duh!). He sat in the rides but wouldn't smile.
After a little pizza and pop, he lossened up and then was on the go.

He found the air hockey table.

He liked the Whack-A-Mole. Anything he can hit that's OK with mom!

Then he discovered the balls. He throws well but just not hard enough to get them all the way to the end.

I then tried to distract him with the basketballs. Bad idea- he didn't want to let others have a turn.
Here is my niece MiKayla.

Outdoor Adventures

This weekend was so nice we spent a lot of time outdoors. On Thursday, Isaiah and I took our friends Ben and Simon to the zoo. No pictures though because the camera was not working. On Friday, Adam and I took Isaiah to the park. Once again no pictures because I forgot the camera.

But here are pictures of Isaiah helping Daddy rake the leaves and get the yard ready for spring.

He is such a big boy, always wanting to help and be involved. He has such a sweet, giving, servant's heart. I am excited to watch it grow and mature.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

I started to sing this song with Isaiah the other day and was surprised to find out he already knew it and did some of the actions. Apparently it is a favorite at day care. I finally got it on video.

Update

It has been a while since I just updated everyone on all the neat things Isaiah is learning.

He is able to say (with some interpretation from mom):
~shoes
~ball
~book
~more
~mama
~dada
~bye-bye (and waves)
~shoot (as in shoot the basketball in the hoop)
~and the newest, night night

He can sign
~more
~please
~thank you
~apple
~want
(Now granted most of the time he has to be prompted to use these but none the less, will respond appropriately.)

He loves to read. He will go get books from his shelf and either come and plop on our laps if we are sitting on the floor or he will turn around and back into our legs, manuvering to be picked up, if we are on the couch.

He also enjoys his Baby Einstein videos. He will turn on the TV and then bring us the box if he wants to watch a movie. And he will usually sit still, watching, for the 30 minutes that it is on.

He knows these body parts and will point to them if asked:
~nose
~hair
~tummy
~ears
~toes
~fingers
He learned these from his bed time book I Love You Through and Through.

He is able to follow simple commands and loves to help out around the house. He is ready for spring/summer so he can be outside all the time.

He is still ornery as ever, getting into everything and making messes. But it so much fun watching learn every day.

Graduation Day

Two weeks ago I received this notice from Isaiah's day care teachers.

Today marked his first whole day in the toddler room. Up to this point he had been in a transition period where he would spend chunks of time in the other room but could always return to the known nursery environment.
Here he is getting ready to go.

He had a pretty good day, except he got bit on the wrist by one kid and scratched on the forehead by another. I guess they have to learn sometime how to fend for themselves :)
I did pretty well today -- I only got teary-eyed for a brief moment (or 20) as he left with Adam today.
