Weekend Visitors

Adam's mom, brother, sister-n-law, and niece came to visit for the weekend. On Friday evening we met them at their hotel for pizza and then the kids did a little swimming.

Today, we all went to the zoo. The weather was beautiful, and we all enjoyed some time outdoors. Here is Isaiah and Marla enjoying the penguins.

Weekend Get-a-Way

Last weekend, Adam and I went to Kansas City for a couple of days. We left Isaiah with my parents- this was the first time he had been left overnight. I think he and mom did pretty well :)
We went to see the Broadway production of the Lion King. It was amazing! Absolutely fantastic.
Then on Saturday, Adam and I did a little shopping (and hunting) at the Bass Pro Shop
before going out to lunch at Longhorn Steak House (yummy!) and then catching a movie (Fireproof-- highly recommend it).
The weekend was a nice chance to regroup before the busyness of work and the holidays begin.

One year check-up

We took Isaiah to the doctor's this morning for his one-year well child visit.

Just so you can compare, when he was born he weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. I don't know head circumfrence.

Now, one year later, he weighs 22 pounds 12 ounces (50th percentile), is 31 inches long (85th percentile), and his head circumference is 19.25 inches (97th percentile). He is growing, healthy, and happy

Birthday Dinner

We took Isaiah out to dinner last night to Fazoli's. My sister Erica and two friends Jessica and Laurie met us and we enjoyed a night of good food and celebrating.

More Birthday

We signed Isaiah up for the birthday club from Toy's R Us so last night we took him in to celebrate. They gave him a balloon, a crown, and they wished him a happy birthday over the loud speaker.

This morning, Adam and I gave him our present. Just clothes, nothing exciting, but Isaiah liked taking everything out of the bag.

We tried to get some pictures with his prince crown and 1st birthday sign.

We had a party at daycare today. Here is Isaiah enjoying his cookie.

Here are his teachers.

Here are some of his classmates.

After the party we went to see daddy at work. Now we are at home playing before we go out to dinner (pix to come).

Happy Birthday!!!!

Isaiah is
ONE!!!!
Wow! I can't believe that it has been a year! Isaiah is such a blessing and a joy and though I am a bit sad that he is no longer technically a baby (he will always be my baby), I am excited about the many new, exciting things ahead!

For those of you that don't know, and also so I have it written down somewhere, here is Isaiah's birth story.

October 15, 2007 I went in to the doctor for my 38 week appointment, knowing that he would tell me it was going to be a while longer. I had not been having any contractions so consequently I was making no progress. But I had been having blood pressure issues for a few weeks and my doctor was concerned about this. So he decided that I needed to be admitted in the hospital for a 24 hour observation, to monitor my blood pressure and some other labs. So that Monday morning, Adam and I headed across the street and got checked in. That day was nothing but laying on my side and hanging out. On Tuesday the 16th, my doc comes in that morning, said my blood pressure was looking good and once all my labs were back we would get to go home and spend the next couple of weeks on bed rest. So Adam left for a while, and my mom and fam came to hang out with me until dismissal. But around noon, the doc came back and said that my labs showed that I was beginning to become toxemic (spelling?) and he had scheduled the OR for 4pm to do a C-section. Immediately I called Adam and told him to come right back to the hospital- we were having a baby that day. The rest of the afternoon was busy getting me prepped for surgery and trying to stay calm. Interesting side note, I had my first contractions right before I went to surgery. I was wheeled to the OR around 4:20 and at 4:57 pm Isaiah Justus was born. The proud daddy took many pictures while I was put back together and then we were taken back to the room where our family was all waiting.

The next few days were a whirl-wind of visitors and doctors and most importantly, getting to know my precious son. And since then it has been nothing but an awesome adventure!!!!

I will post other pictures through out the day as we celebrate, but I wanted to get these beginning ones up first thing.

Catch-Up

I did my posts backwards, so please keeping reading past this one as there are newer items at the bottom :)
As usual, I am in catch up mode so here are some random pictures from the last week.
Here is Isaiah sporting his new stocking cap and mittens.

Here he is in his new shirt from Aunt Bev.

Last weekend we celebrated my 10 year highschool reunion. On Friday night we went to the highschool football game.

Then on Saturday morning we went to the Fall Festival Parade.

After the parade, we had a cookout and Isaiah enjoyed playing on the playground equipment.

And here is me with my good friend Faye.

New Things

As people were leaving the party today, and telling Isaiah good-bye, he started to wave!!!! And it is so cute because he has his hand facing himself instead of the person he is telling bye. I promise video is to come. He was so unexpected that I wasn't ready :)

Then all of sudden, he also SAID bye-bye, imitaiting his cousin MiKayla. Once again, out of the blue so hopefully he will say it again soon.

As a note, Isaiah is now saying uh-oh, whoa, and ball (pronounced ba). He also babbles dadada, but as I told Adam, this isn't exclusively towards him so I don't think he is saying daddy :) I keep waiting for mommy!

Party Time

If the new background didn't give it away, Isaiah's 1st birthday is on Thursday. I can't believe it has already been a year. When they say time is precious because it goes by quickly, they weren't lying! We had his birthday party today so that more of our family could attend.

Adam and I made the cakes. Not as professional as Heather's but it was fun.

Opening presents.

He wasn't too sure about the beanbag chair. I think we can take out some of the beans so it is not so big.

And the long awaited birthday cake! Yum!

This is new.

I'm One! (Almost)

Thanks everyone for a great First Party! ~Love, Isaiah
